PasswordGear Launched

The App is finally launched!

PasswordGear took way longer to get perfect than we expected, but Apple made up for that by clearing the App for the App Store in one hour 40 minutes. Is that a record? We weren’t expecting it that quick. You know, maybe a couple of weeks of testing, and you hear stories of some Apps getting rejected for all sorts of reasons.

As this was our first App on any platform, let alone Apple, there was a lot to discover and learn. But it was pretty intuitive, and Apple had clearly gone to a lot of effort to make developing for different iOS devices easier. When we start developing PasswordGear for other platforms, it may not be so easy.

PasswordGear is perfect for busy people who procrastinate over making their passwords stronger because thinking up a new secure password can be really time-consuming and stressful.

Even if you already have a sophisticated password manager such as 1Password or LastPass, they still need strong passwords for disk encryption, computer login and master passwords. PasswordGear is for these, and also it can help build families of passwords that are unique, yet linked and memorable.

Anyway, as of now, you can beat a path to the App Store on iTunes, or just search for “passwordgear” That name is a little long for the iPhone’s screen, so on your phone, it gets shortened to “PassGear”. We are selling it at an introductory price of $0.99 or equivalent, so buy it quick before the price goes up.

PasswordGear works on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, iOS4.0 and above. It runs a bit slowly on the iPhone 3G, which is a pity, so sorry about that.
